EMPIRE R

The EMPIRE model ranks among our most successful designs and has become a benchmark in its class. The new EMPIRE R version represents its evolution toward a higher category. Every detail, from the cabinet to the internal wiring, has been crafted to achieve precision, stability, and tonal neutrality on the level of true reference systems.

Speaker enclosure

The cabinet is a key element of the EMPIRE speakers, designed to provide ideal conditions for the drivers while minimizing unwanted resonances. It is made from 18 mm thick MDF, reinforced with strong internal braces to control resonance and improve stability. These measures ensure clean, accurate sound without unwanted vibrations.

Bassreflex

The bass reflex system maintains the same slot-shaped port design but is tuned to a different resonant frequency, optimizing the amplitude response and airflow.
The bass range thus offers more precise control, faster response, and better dynamic integration into the overall frequency spectrum.

Internal damping

The internal acoustic space is treated with a three-layer damping structure.
A high-density acoustic felt works in combination with 7 cm acoustic foam and a layer of sheep’s wool.
These materials create a stable internal environment with controlled airflow, suppress internal resonances, and ensure a smooth, linear response across the entire frequency band.

Tweeter

The tweeter comes from the renowned manufacturer SB Acoustics. It uses a ceramic dome, an optimized phase design, and a CCAW voice coil. A sealed resonance chamber lowers the resonance frequency and delivers clear, precise sound even at high volumes. The result is minimal distortion and high sound fidelity.

Midbass driver

Also from SB Acoustics, the mid-bass driver uses a special paper cone for rich and natural reproduction of bass and midrange frequencies. It features a composite, non-resonant basket and high-quality ventilation for maximum acoustic performance.

Crossover

The crossover is hand-assembled in point-to-point topology, keeping the signal path as short as possible and free of unnecessary junctions.
It uses Litz Wire coils potted in wax to suppress skin effect and micro-vibrations.
Signal paths employ Jantzen Standard Z-Cap and Superior Z-Cap film capacitors, known for low ESR and precise phase response.
The bass section is complemented with a bypass capacitor for fast impulse response and accurate low-frequency transfer.
The entire network offers high mechanical and thermal stability, ensuring consistent performance under any load.

Cabling

Internal signal paths use silver-plated copper conductors in Teflon insulation, identical to those used in the ELYSIUM model.
Teflon’s low dielectric constant reduces cable capacitance, enhances transient response, and preserves maximum transparency and timing accuracy.
